Structural Project Engineer
Ground Force Engineering is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with at least four years of structural engineering experience to support analysis, design and construction documentation. The engineer works through structural design problems, prepares clear calculations and construction documents, and coordinates with the project team to deliver practical, accurate engineering solutions. Relevant structural or civil experience in residential, building, solar or telecommunications projects will be considered; experience in every sector is not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for assigned projects, including structural members, connections and foundations as applicable.
- Prepare and review calculations, plans, details and technical documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinate structural requirements with civil plans, project conditions and other disciplines.
- Work with engineers and CAD staff to develop drawings and incorporate review comments.
- Communicate design questions, project needs and progress clearly with the team and project contacts.
- Manage assigned tasks and deadlines, identify missing information and support responses to construction questions.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university. Civil or structural engineering is preferred.
- At least four years of relevant structural engineering experience, including analysis and design.
- Active North Carolina PE licensure, or the ability to obtain it within three months of starting employment.
- AutoCAD proficiency and experience preparing or revising construction documents.
- Strong understanding of structural behavior, load paths and engineering calculations.
- Ability to interpret construction documents and apply relevant design criteria and standards.
- Ability to carry assigned work forward with appropriate technical review and to ask for guidance when it is needed.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication.
Preferred qualifications
- Civil engineering experience and the ability to coordinate structural design with site and civil requirements.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software.
